Ikeja Electric has sounded a note of warning to the residents of Amuwo Odofin in Lagos State that there would be a maintenance scheduled for their axis in the state.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Ikeja Electric begin rehabilitation and maintenance works on the 132kV GIS Substation at the Amuwo Transmission Station.
According to a statement issued by the management of Ikeja Electric, the outage is set to commence on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, at 10:00 a.m., and is expected to continue until Thursday, 30 July 2026.
Explaining the necessity of the blackout, the management noted that the project is vital for the future of the local power grid.
The outage will specifically affect customers connected to several key feeders. The affected lines include the 11-AmuwoINJ-T1 serving Old Ojo Road and Ijesha Express, as well as the 11-AmuwoINJ-T2 covering Jakande 1 and 2. Also affected are the 33-AmuwoTCN lines supplying Amukoko and the Hongxing 1 and 2 areas.
In the statement, the management emphasised the importance of the exercise, explaining that it is a critical upgrade aimed at strengthening power infrastructure and enhancing the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply to residents and businesses within the affected areas.
The utility firm acknowledged the difficulty this long-term maintenance might pose to daily life and commercial activities in the impacted zones.
