The final year student in the Geology department at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Olubodun Sanni, will soon be charged by the Ondo State Police Command.
Sanni was detained for allegedly killing Ifeoluwa Adekunle, a fellow student at the university.
Two weeks ago, in her flat off the university’s campus, Adekunle, a 300-level student in the Department of Economics at the AAUA, was discovered in a pool of her blood.
The attacker allegedly stole Ifeoluwa’s iPhone and fatally stabbed her in her room. The police had been pursuing the suspect ever since.
The state commissioner of police, Mr. Abayomi Oladipo, paraded the suspect at the police headquarters in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday.
He claimed that the suspect had killed the victim and then taken her phone.The head of state police claims that the suspect was apprehended thanks to the utilisation of contemporary technology, which aided in identifying the 21-year-old suspect as the owner of the stolen phone.”
The arrest of a murder suspect connected to the slaying of an AAUA student is one of the few successes we would like to highlight,” he declared.
Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa, 20, a 300-level student at the university, was discovered in a blood pool at her off-campus hostel on February 2, 2024.
She was taken to the university health centre and subsequently referred to a Specialist Hospital in Ikare Akoko, where she was subsequently confirmed dead.
This was the basis for a suspected murder case that was reported to the police.The missing phone of the deceased was found by the police during their investigation.
With the aid of contemporary technology, the police were able to identify the phone’s owner as Olubodun Sanni,’m, a 21-year-old student in his final year at the same institution and the deceased’s roommate in the dorm.
“The recovered phone prompted additional interrogation of the suspect, who revealed in his confessional statement the specifics of how he broke into the deceased’s room, stabbed her in the chest with a knife, and took her iPhone XR.”
