Victor Abayomi, a chef for Akinwunmi Ambode, the former governor of Lagos State, was placed under remand by a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Ambode is accused of stealing valuables valued at millions of naira from the former governor’s Ikoyi home.
The defendant was placed on remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Center for a period of 30 days by Chief Magistrate Mr. Peter Nwaka, who issued the order.Abayomi is being prosecuted on two charges that the State Security Service has chosen against him that involve theft and conspiracy.
Joshua Babalola, the prosecutor for the SSS, informed the court that Abayomi and other fugitives collaborated to carry out the crimes at the former governor’s home.
He claimed that the defendant had stolen pricey goods from his employer’s Ikoyi home, valued at millions of naira.According to Babalola, the defendant fled to Molorundo Local Government Area in Osun State and was apprehended on March 7, 2024, at Old Garage.
The prosecutor stated that the offenses violated Sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law.But in order to conduct further research and present the facts, Magistrate Nwaka postponed the case until April 8, 2024.
