In Just six months, Samuel Omorodion’s valuation has increased by 100%.

Transfer Market claims that the 19-year-old’s market value has increased from €400,000 to €40 million in just six months.

The Spain U-21 striker’s form and market value have steadily improved since Atletico Madrid acquired him from Granada last summer for €6 million.

Expert in transfers from Spain Gianluca di Marzio Blaseio stated, “Atletico scouted well and signed an absolute top talent in striker Samu.”

“The loan move has also proven to be a wise decision, as the large striker may present Alvaro Morata with serious attack-related competition.

“Physically strong young strikers with a high top speed and good finishing ability fetch high fees from clubs. However, Atlético probably wants to keep him on team.

On Sunday, Omorodion will have the opportunity to create history when Deportivo Alaves plays Real Sociedad in La Liga.

Omorodion has played in 27 games for Alaves in La Liga this season, recording nine goals and one assist since moving into the Mendizorroza stadium.

He currently shares the record for most goals scored in a La Liga debut season with former Nigerian striker Christopher Ohenhen.

Ohenhen’s first LaLiga season with SD Compostela was 1994–1995; in 19 games, he scored nine goals in the league.

When Omorodion makes his 20th appearance, starting for Alaves, he will be looking to snap his goal drought of five league games.

Strikers from Nigeria like Ikechukwu Uche and Obafemi Martins have gone close to accomplishing this in the past.

In his first La Liga season, Uche played for Recreativo Huelva in 2006–07 and finished with eight goals and one assist in 31 games.

Uche went on to play for Granada, Villarreal, Real Zaragoza, and Getafe in 194 La Liga games, scoring 43 goals and dishing out 42 assists overall.

Martins, who spent the 2012–13 season playing on loan at Levante from the Seattle Sounders, contributed three assists and seven goals to Los Azulgranas’ 21 games played.

It is clear that teams from France and Italy took notice of Omorodion’s quick rise at Alaves, as they inquired about his availability in January.

Dairo Sports claims that Atletico Madrid turned down a €30 million offer for his services and that they will meet with his agents in the upcoming weeks to discuss raising his release clause.

He is in a strong position to be an important player for Atlético Madrid going forward given his current performance.
