The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has sacked 11 officials for extortion and bribery.The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the development on Thursday.

He further stated that a disciplinary panel had convened on Thursday, November 30, to investigate the allegations levelled against the 11 LASTMA officers.

He confirmed that only one of the officials out of 12 was cleared of wrongdoing, while the 11 others were found guilty of the alleged crime.

He also added that the Acting General Manager has issued a stern warning to all LASTMA personnel that there would be harsher punishments for any corrupt officers who carry out illegal practices and bribery.

He pointed out that the aim is to fish out “few bad elements tarnishing its image and maintain the pride of the agency”.

“We hereby call on residents especially motoring public to support the Agency in the on-going restructuring by promptly reporting any errant officers via any of the Agency’s complaints hotlines (08100565860, 08129928503, 08129928515 & 08129928597) with proof of evidence,” he said.
