Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has praised the late Herbert Wigwe, the chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, for his generosity and commitment to the gospel.

At the combined Service of Songs for Wigwe, his wife Doreen, and their son Chizi, which took place at the RCCG Resurrection Parish in Lekki, Lagos, on Thursday, Adeboye made this statement.

Together with Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former chairman of the Nigerian Exchange group, the three individuals perished in an American helicopter crash in early February.Pastor Charles Pande, the Head of the Blessed Family and Pastor in charge of Region 11 of the RCCG, read a passage from Adeboye’s condolence message during the service.

“Dr. Wigwe was not only an accomplished professional but a fine gentleman, possessing a prodigious intellect, admirable personal qualities, and business acumen,” stated a portion of Adeboye’s message. He was a remarkable man because of his commitment to philanthropy, nation-building, supporting children’s literacy, and the arts.

What is more, his devotion to the Christian faith and his active participation in the gospel’s dissemination were excellent. We are deeply saddened by your loss during this difficult time. Everyone who had the honor of knowing Dr. Herbert will mourn his loss and the void he left behind.

In honoring the late banking whiz, Nigeria’s immediate past vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, reminisced that during his eight years in office, Wigwe never requested a favor from him.”I have known him for so many years,” he remarked. I have no idea how many years it is. Herbert called me almost every other month during the eight months I was in office, never once asking for a favor and always just asking how I was doing.

However, he called me two months before I was set to leave the office, saying he needed to see me. I reasoned that since he arrived with a notebook, he must be having some problems. Herbert never brings a notebook, so I was taken aback when he asked what I had planned to do when I left the office. I chuckled at that, but he persisted and carefully noted everything I mentioned wanting to do.

Before I left the office, he paid me at least three visits after that.He called me on Tuesday the Thursday before he passed away, saying he would see me in Abuja that Thursday, and he did. Herbert was one who walked the talk of brotherhood and friendship,” he said.

The former vice president consoled the grieving children, saying, “No words can heal your hearts, but know that you are not alone in your grief.” Both young and old have been deeply troubled by this tragedy.

A thick, black cloud covers our hearts.”Most of us have been forced to face our own mortality in light of this incident. I would like you to be aware of one thing in particular: the kids. God does not give a damn about how someone dies; Elisha passed away from a disease, Stephen was stoned to death, and John was beheaded.

For God, the distinction between perishing and dying is crucial.Following the events in Lagos, the Christian Wake-Keeping Friday at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, and the Combined Funeral Service on Saturday at RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, along with a private interment ceremony, will take place in Rivers State.

The outing service at RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo on Sunday is the last event.
