According to the Lagos State Police Command, seven people have perished this week in various parts of the state as a result of accidental drowning.

This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the state police.

He said that the Third Mainland Bridge, a beach, and hotel swimming pools were where the incidents were captured on camera.He wrote, “Seven people drowned in hotels, swimming pools, and beaches this week alone.” Two in a hotel in Mushin, one on the island, one on Ibeshe Island, two in an accident that happened off the Third Mainland Bridge, and one more in a hotel in Shasha. Recall that on Wednesday, a commercial bus crashed on the Third Mainland Bridge in the state, causing two passengers to fall into the lagoon.

In the collision, other car occupants suffered injuries to differing degrees.The National Emergency Management Agency’s Lagos Territorial Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, stated in a statement that the 18-seater bus’s driver veered off the road at high speed and struck the bridge rails.

The victims, an adult male and female, were being searched by the Marine Police, he said, adding that the impact of the crash forced the two passengers off the bus and into the lagoon.
