The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the financial recompensation for all participating nations in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
As announced by CAF, the trophy winner of AFCON 2023 will be rewarded with $7 million.
The runners-up receive $4 million. The two losing semi-finalists (two teams) will be given $2.5 million.
Also, the losing quarter-finalists which include four teams will each receive $1.3 million. The eight knocked out teams in the round of 16 will get $800,000 each.
Now, two teams that finished third in their group but couldn’t advance will have $700,000 pocketed. The six teams that finished last in their groups got $500,000 each.
As the tournament begins the quarterfinals stage on Friday (today), eight teams are playing, seeking to advance to the next round (semifinals).
However, Nigeria will battle against Angola to secure their desire for a fourth AFCON trophy at Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on today which they last won in 2013.
