Nineteen students, including six final-year students, have been rusticated or expelled by the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, authorities claim.


The students are accused of committing multiple offenses.

According to a statement released on Monday by Kunle Akogun, the school’s director of corporate affairs, Wahab Egbewole (SAN), approved the expulsion or rustication of the affected students as a response to the recommendations made by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th and 221st meetings.

According to the statement, the affected students were punished for offenses including assault, bed-space extortion in hostels, theft, misbehavior, beating up other students, and admission racketeering.

Additionally, it stated that expulsion and rustication for a semester or academic session were among the sanctions for the offenses the students had committed.

The statement claims that 14 students were rusticated for a semester or the entire academic year, and five students were expelled from the university for allegedly stealing and manipulating exams.

The statement listed Amatokwu Evans of the Department of Art Education as one of the expelled students.Chinedu Nwachukwu Joshua, Department of Biochemistry; Oshinboluro Temitope Joshua, Mathematics Department; Sulaimon Mayowa, Biochemistry; and Okanle Oluwatimileyin Samuel, Physiotherapy Department.

It was determined that the students who were expelled had engaged in examination malpractice, theft, admission racketeering and extortion, and hostel dedspace racketeering.The others were: Elegede Favour Emmanuel, Physiology, Ojelabi Ibukunoluwa Micheal, Anatomy, Engineering & Technology, Akorede Isiaka Nifemi, Mathematics, Bolanta Taiye Zainab, Chemistry, Afolayan Damilola, Mathematics, Ajibola Oluwaseyi Temiloluwa, Physiology, and Okeke Ruth Chinecherem, Performing.

The following individuals were also included: Badmus Rasheedat Ajoke, specializing in Chemistry; Afolayan Damilola, with expertise in Mathematics; Ajibola Oluwaseyi Temiloluwa, excelling in Engineering &Technology; Akorede Isiaka Nifemi, proficient in Mathematics; Bolanta Taiye Zainab, skilled in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. Additionally, Elegede Favour Emmanuel specializes in Physiology while Ojelabi Ibukunoluwa Micheal has expertise in Anatomy. Finally, there is Okeke Ruth Chinecherem who is a Performing expert.
