The Ogun State Police Command has arrested and detained Ibùdó Aseyori, a pastor of the God Foundation Spiritual Church of Christ, at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, at Osioyemi Eleweran, in Abeokuta, Monday Ogunyomi.
He is accused of raping a 25-year-old woman during a cleansing prayer on the church grounds.According to reports, the incident happened on Wednesday at around 12:10 a.m.
The pastor is accused of getting undressed and telling the survivor to take off her clothes before starting the prayer session.Our correspondent also learned that Toyin Akanbi, the survivor’s mother, had previously approached the pastor for spiritual deliverance for her daughter, who was purportedly suffering from nightmares.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the survivor’s nightmares had reportedly caused the family to worry, and a friend had suggested that they take the survivor to the pastor in order to receive deliverance.
As per an exclusive police document made public on Monday, Akanbi informed the police officers at the Aregbe Division that the pastor had previously requested that she pay N80,000 before he could begin the deliverance.”My daughter has been experiencing horrible nightmares nonstop.
The Eleweran church is led by a prophet as its pastor. I was asked to give him N80,000. However, she made a N50,000 deposit to ensure the pastor could begin the delivery on schedule.”The survivor told the police that the pastor had forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in the early hours of the night when she arrived at the church.
The mother was surprised to hear this information when she called her daughter hours later to inquire about the survivor’s night experience.
“Also, a police source who was privy to the investigation but chose not to be named because he was not authorised to speak for the division told our correspondent that after the pastor’s arrest and during interrogation, the survivor said the pastor told her that they would have to put off their clothes before he could start the deliverance.
The source said, “Upon interrogation, the survivor said the pastor ordered her to go naked before the pastor could start the prayer. As they were praying naked, the survivor also said the pastor ordered her to lie on a bench where she was allegedly raped.“However, the pastor denied having carnal knowledge of her, even though he confirmed that they were both praying naked.”When contacted on Monday, the spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, said a medical form had been issued to the survivor for examination, stating that the pastor would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
“The mother took the daughter to the church for spiritual cleansing, but the pastor allegedly had carnal knowledge of the lady while they were both naked praying in the middle of the night. He has been arrested.“The case is under investigation and will be transferred to the state CID. The survivor has been issued a medical form and taken to a hospital in the Aregbe area of Abeokuta for examination.
”It was reported in February that the command arrested a clergyman identified as Timothy Adedibu for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl in Magboro, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.It was stated that the incident occurred on February 15, 2025, following the survivor’s uncle’s alarm about it. According to the police, the 65-year-old suspect is thought to be the local church’s leader.
The clergyman allegedly had sexual knowledge of the minor and had once lured her into his apartment, according to the survivor’s family, who reported this to the police.
